For those of you that are massage therapists, or practitioners of any ilk where you carry liability insurance, you may be able to join the team of Independent Contractors with Healing Hands ~ Healing Hearts after you have completed the Touch Therapy for the Terminally Ill certification class. This has proven to be a two-fold blessing in that you not only provide a service that is indeed special and very much in need, but you will also receive a standard rate fee paid to you for the visits you make (unless you feel moved to make any visits as a volunteer).
Another benefit for you is that your participation time is up to you, whether you visit one client a week or five a day.

Touch Therapy for the Terminally Ill
Course Description:
Touch is a basic human need throughout our lives. This training will shine an even brighter light upon this need. The Touch Therapy for the Terminally Ill method of connection is actually a very universal one and can just as well be used with wonderful results on the critically and chronically ill as well as with clients from a very young child to geriatric. This course is designed to address the terminally ill in order to provide the ultimate in this intimate, palliative ceremony that honors a person at the end stages of their life. The head to toe contact that makes up this Touch Therapy not only addresses the physical needs of a client/patient, but it embraces their emotional, social, and spiritual needs as well. Receiving contact in this manner reminds the client that their body can still feel whole and that they can find a source of relief outside of relying only on the pharmaceutical approach.
The training in this course will help to define "Quality of Life" and how you can help bring more focus on a person's needs and rights at this time in his or her life. You will learn hands-on techniques that add circulation benefits to the client through the method of Touch Therapy being taught. You will learn how to integrate training you may already have (whether from massage training or just being a parent) into the method of contact being applied through the Touch Therapy training. There is wonderful instruction in how to listen to the client with your hands as well as your ears, and techniques for communicating with a grieving family that may be surrounding the client for which you are providing Touch Therapy.
This training is very hands-on and broad based. It takes you deep into your own beliefs and fears that you may have regarding death and dying. It is our deepest hope to be able to provide new windows, new light, and new ways of looking at the end of life transitioning experience. To do this we will equip you with a great new way to communicate with those who are facing this time in their life, making your visit with them a celebration of life.
Note: The training does not require students to disrobe.
Class Size: We will accommodate a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 30 students.
