Touch Therapy / Conscious Touch
FOR THE TERMINALLY ILL:
This is a special massage modality that addresses a very dear population among us, the people who are facing a diagnosis that means 'end of life.' Touch is a basic human need all of our lives. We touch infants at birth, holding them and nurturing them. It is important to the terminally ill, at any age, to be touched in that same loving manner. Touch Therapy not only addresses the physical needs of the dying, it also brings focus to the emotional, social, and spiritual needs as well. Quality of Life becomes more important than Quantity of Life as one's health care changes from curative to palliative.
Something that makes this offering so easy to provide is that it does not require the client to disrobe. The client stays where he or she is most comfortable, be that in a hospital bed, regular bed, couch, or even a recliner. We provide the Touch Therapy in and around the environment that the client finds most comfortable. We find it best to have the client positioned where he or she will be best suited if he or she falls into a restful sleep (which is very common). It can even be provided through blankets if the client is easily affected by temperature changes. Use of massage lotions or creams is not necessary, which reduces the need for any extra work in cleanup by the caregiver or risk of allergic reactions by the client.
FOR THE CHRONICALLY AND CRITICALLY ILL:
The same therapeutic touch used for the terminally ill is provided to the chronically and critically ill clients. There are some subtle variations such as pressure used by the therapist and incorporation of other basic massage strokes, but the therapy provided is based entirely upon the client's health and physical condition.
BENEFITS OF THIS THERAPY:
Rates for our services are calculated on a sliding scale to help make it affordable for everyone!
